January 2009: An Update

In looking at my rather long list of New Year's Resolutions, I think I can say that I am progressing slowly but surely. Of course, included is the mandatory resolution to get healthier, exercise more, eat better. Although this typical resolution is almost always destined to fall through the cracks after the first few months of inconsistent effort, I am determined. Actually, I'm the lightest that I've been since high school, so there's not much to be lost. However, I know that my poor eating habits are catching up to me, so I need to get the move on with this healthy lifestyle stuff. I'm not going to be unrealistic and say that I'm going to become a vegetarian or anything like that; hello...i'm way too carnivorous! I just think small changes make a big difference and so that is my goal, not just with my health but with every aspect in my life. I'll be sure to continually update my progress throughout the year.

On another note, after watching today's historic inauguration, it is quite evident that the theme of this year is HOPE. It's a theme that is not only for this nation, but for each individual, including myself. Despite the fact that I am still a Clinton fan, Obama brings hope to the nation not just by his etiquette or charismatic rhetoric, but by showing the American people that with his outstanding work ethic, he not only talks the talk, but walks the walk. He is unafraid to get his hands dirty and tackle the hard issues. To me, this sends out a message to the American people that I take to heart. We too must work hard. We must believe in ourselves and strive to reach the highest of our own potentials. We must be generous, kind, and tolerant. We must HOPE for the best even when things seem the worst. We must always push forward and only look back to learn from our mistakes. With this, Obama reminds us of the American ideals and values that allow us to stand tall during this wavering time in our economic history. 2008 was an EHHH year for me and for most. On this day, in 2009, I am gleaming with pride to be American, and I am motivated to pick myself up the American way and just keep going. I am hopeful that, in the end, God will provide.

More to come...

P.S. Save January 31! We're partying it up forreal!
