Life, as you get older, gets pretty serious. Lol. I haven't blogged in a long time simply because I didn't want to bore any of you with all the seriousness going on in my life. Btw, seriousness = depression. haha...j/k...but not really.Anyway, I'm determined to sit here and think of ways to make this blog as light-hearted and entertaining as possible. Perhaps the real challenge is rememberiing how to write! Eek! Aahh..post-grad life. Makes your brain turn into mush if you're not careful. haha.. Don't tell my English students that I don't actually know what I'm talking about. lol.
Speaking of which, my tutoring job has been going pretty well. I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoy what I do. Minus, of course, the long drives and dealing with the few hyperactive, sometimes lazy, kids. Kinder through third grade children have been my cross. Lol. j/k...kind of. When all else fails, I did learn that you can bribe them with fun-sized snicker bars to get them to do their work! lol. Of course, give it to them after the session, so you won't have to feel the wrath of the sugar rush. Ahh...life lessons. But in all seriousness, it's really great seeing my students learn and improve, not just with my curriculum but in school as well. I was a little nervous when I first started this job because I didn't know if I was any good at teaching or at handling students, but so far so good. Why not be a teacher then? Well, I considered it, but I think I like the one-on-one, personal interaction that you get with tutoring and also with the patient-medical provider relationship. I don't really see myself teaching a whole classroom. You know? So, at least I can cross out teacher from my list of potential occupations.
Along the lines of self-discovery, I should be starting volunteer work at LAC-USC within the next two weeks which will hopefully get me on the right track. I will be working in their ER, which is the second busiest in the country, btw. Maybe that's why every entrance has a security check point and every 5 minutes you hear a code green being announced on the speakers which means a security alert. Hmm...I just got a little scared for myself right now. :/
Sooo...2008 ay?! I can't believe a whole month has passed by already. New Year's resolutions? Yep. I don't know how well they're going though. 2008 actually hasn't been that great so far, but maybe that'll change next week...when we go to ::sings "New York, New York"::!! I'm starting to get really excited. I've always wanted to travel and this might just be ::sings "The Start of Something New":: haha. btw, i miss singing. :/ If all goes well, I'll be flying to some distant land over the summer. Who's with me?! Any suggestions? Save your money!
Ok, I'm out of things to talk about and more importantly, time. So I leave you with some random, yet profound thoughts.
-I miss Grey's Anatomy and watching it with the gals. I have seasons 1 and 2 now! I'm soo down for a Grey's night.
-I am the only sibling living at home and I have the smallest room. Of course.
-Why is my nose always cold??
-Why is Britney Spears always on my AOL start-up page?
-NYC here we come!! In the headlines: Liwanag invades New York! Next city...Seattle?? OMGas...I still need to get winter clothes!
-I have the itch to go to Vegas. I don't know why...but I feel it calling. Road trip! Wow... there was so much talk of travel in this blog entry. I am pretty ambitious for someone who has no money. Wah wah.
-My word of the day is quiescence. I am enjoying the quiescence that the weekend brings after a very long week. My students would probably use it in a sentence similar to this: I have quiescence. Or... My friend has something like quiescence. Lol.
-Hey, it's almost my birthday! Come celebrate with me! Leave the first and/or the second of February open! Please! :D
Ok, I'm off to San Diego to hang out with the best friend, eat my long lost carne asada fries, and participate in the Chargers playoff excitement. Irvine...you might get a visit too. ;p
